Lumina Hospice & Palliative Care is looking for volunteers to enrich the lives of patients in all the communities of the Mid-Willamette Valley. Hospice volunteers may provide respite care, go on social visits, offer companionship, make phone calls, play music, read aloud or run errands. Others volunteer in the office or out in the community.
Volunteers at Lumina report that they find it personally gratifying, intellectually stimulating, and emotionally meaningful to assist those in need at a critical point in their lives. Share your talents, skills, and compassion!
Two full days of training are provided prior to working with patients. Training for office or community work consists of a half day of training. The next 2-day respite and companion training volunteer training is scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday, February 13 and 15, from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm both days. Trainees for administrative and outreach volunteering only need to attend February 13 from 8:30 am to noon.
Registration is required by Wednesday, February 7. Space is limited. There is no charge for the training, but voluntary donations are accepted to offset training expenses.
