Lumina Hospice & Palliative Care
We are a community-grown nonprofit that provides compassionate care and support for individuals, families and caregivers in Albany, Oregon and surrounding areas who are facing serious illness or end of life.
Lumina Hospice & Palliative Care’s Community Resource Center is located at 720 SW 4th St, Corvallis, OR 97333.
Founded as Benton Hospice Service in 1980, Lumina has a long tradition of serving end-of-life needs Oregon’s Mid-Willamette Valley. From our hospice and palliative care services to our extensive grief and caregiver support programs, we are here for you.
Hospice is a comprehensive approach to end-of-life care that provides emotional, spiritual, physical, and psychological support tailored to each patient’s needs. This allows patients and loved ones to focus on the things most important to them, while providing peace of mind that help is always available.
Hospice care is provided to patients who have a prognosis of six months or less and who are no longer seeking curative treatment.
Palliative Care is specialized medical care that focuses on improving quality of life and comfort when facing a serious illness or complex medical decisions.
Palliative patients can continue to receive curative treatment. The expertise provided by our team helps patients manage symptoms, plan ahead, and avoid hospital and emergency room visits.
Our Transitions program provides non-medical support, access to community resources, and practical assistance to those living with a serious, life-limiting illness who are either not ready for, or not eligible for, hospice care.
Lumina offers a variety of grief support programs so that everyone in the community has a safe place to explore and share their grief reactions. Our grief support is offered free-of-charge to anyone in the community grieving the loss of a loved one, regardless of when, where, or how the death occurred, or connection to hospice.

“I asked for Lumina to care for my friend in memory care. The attention to his comfort and responsiveness to me as a care giver were excellent. I hope others have the opportunity to have hospice care when needed.“Google Review from Ilene Kleinsorge– March, 2022
“I have seen the utmost kindness, responsiveness, and compassion when referring my precious patients who are either grieving the loss of a loved one or struggling with the difficult role of being primary caregivers. In Corvallis, I have not seen anything remotely close to the comprehensive list of services offered to our community, furthermore generally completely free of charge. These guys have taken it upon themselves to care for patients, both physically and emotionally, while also caring for their families’ needs as well. We are so lucky to have such a rad group of caring people in our community.”Google Review from Elizabeth Mahmud– November, 2021
“Lumina was such a wonderful support to our family during the end of Dad’s life: professional, great listeners, compassionate, helpful, loving.”Google Review from Susan Stutzman– February, 2021
