Join Dr. Helen Kao for a presentation on Caring for Dementia Over Time. Topics discussed include Stages of dementia (early, middle, late, end of life); Care and communication – adapting to the stage; How to think about caregiving and Long Term Care. Helen Kao is Medical Director of Clinical Innovations at Lumina Hospice and Palliative Care in Corvallis, OR, and Professor of Medicine with the University of California San Francisco. She is board certified in internal medicine, geriatrics, and hospice & palliative medicine. Helen’s clinical work has focused on the care of frail, homebound, and vulnerable adults for over 15 years. She has particular interests in dementia, home-based care, and palliative care.
“Caring for Dementia Over Time” presentation is offered two times, on June 12 at 5:30pm and on June 13 at noon at the Corvallis Community Center.
Respite care at the Grace Center is available during the lecture. The cost is $20 for an evening lecture, and free during the noon lectures. Registration for respite care must be made in advance. Call the Grace Center at 541-754-8417 to schedule.
