AM Northwest: National Hospice & Palliative Care Month

Wednesday, November 15, 2023

November is National Palliative & Hospice Care Month. Paul Kirk, MD, a retired physician and Care Partners board member, joined KATU’s AM Northwest to share how hospice offers personalized care and comfort, helping patients and families to live better with serious illness through the end of life. He also explained the difference between for-profit and non-profit options. To view the tv interview, click here.

The Oregon Nonprofit Hospice Alliance was formed in 2018, through collaboration and a mutual mission of sustaining the nonprofit difference in hospice and palliative care. ONHA is committed to extending its reach and impact in providing quality hospice and palliative care programs, improving clinical outcomes by pursuing clinical best practices and protocols, providing cost efficiencies through economies of scale, and joint purchasing power, and advancing the long-term strategic growth of its affiliates. We are a powerful alliance, pooling our resources and knowledge to continually improve and innovate the services we provide.

Our alliance proudly brings together a network of nonprofit hospice organizations that have collectively amassed decades of experience in providing end-of-life care and support services to their communities. Steeped in tradition and guided by a deep commitment to humanity, our affiliates have stood as beacons of comfort and care in the healthcare sector for over 40 years. Together they serve 12 counties and 142 zip codes across the State of Oregon (from Northern California to the Oregon/Washington border). The nonprofit difference they bring is rooted in their mission-driven approach, ensuring that the patient’s well-being and quality of life are always at the forefront.

Lumina Hospice & Palliative Care is a proud founding member of ONHA. Serving primarily Linn and Benton Counties, Lumina strives to support our local community through end of life.
