Powerful Tools For Caregivers Class To Be Held In Corvallis

Friday, December 6, 2019

The stress of providing care for a family member or friend with a chronic or disabling condition causes the caregiver’s health to also be at risk. It is important for caregivers not to neglect their needs. That is why Lumina Hospice & Palliative Care is offering Powerful Tools for Caregivers, an educational series designed to provide family caregivers the tools they need to take care of themselves while caring for an older relative or friend. This could be helping a parent, spouse or friend who lives at home, in a nursing home or across the country.

Worried that you can’t get away for the class? Inquire at Lumina if you need coverage for your care-receiver. There may be help available!

This program helps family caregivers reduce stress, improve self-confidence, communicate feelings, balance their lives, increase their ability to make tough decisions and locate helpful resources. This class is not designed for professional caregivers.

The course consists of six sessions held once a week. Participants will receive a complimentary copy of the Caregiver Helpbook developed specifically for the class, and there is no cost to attend. Both the class and the materials have been made possible thanks to a generous community grant from OCWCOG Senior & Disability Services Family Caregiver Support Program

Classes will be held at Lumina Hospice & Palliative Care, 720 SW 4th Street in Corvallis from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm every Saturday beginning February 8 through March 14, 2020.  To register, or for more information, contact Kim Rockwood at Lumina, 541-757-9616.  Class size is limited and pre-registration is required. Early registration is encouraged.
